Buddha
Sometimes I catch my cat in complete stillness, looking out the window, and I think, “He’s thinking about poetry.”
I mean, how do I know?
I see in this illustration two things that reliably make me pause to think about incomprehensibly bigger things. One is a big, dark night sky, The other is a feeling of understanding with an animal... or a baby, for that matter. It’s a connection that happens usually through the eyes and not through speaking.
Have you seen it?
This might be the very first illustration I ever completed. The pattern in the skies was inspired by the shirt that my mother was wearing that afternoon.
