Supporting sustainability: 100% recycled post-consumer waste card and envelope; commercially compostable plastic sleeve.

How do birds stay warm in winter? With their downy feathers, of course — but a cozy scarf can’t hurt, either. Includes my curious discoveries on the back of each card. Blank inside.

Text on the back of this card:

Years ago, I walked with my cat as she explored outside. As I followed her, a bird swooped over my head.

Then it swooped again. And again. Could it be that this bird didn’t want me around? I looked up and saw a bluejay.

Perhaps it’s no wonder that bluejays draw criticism: “arrogant” for showy feathers, “raucous” for squawking, a “trickster” for mimicking hawks. Thoreau said the jay had a "steel-cold scream.” Its scientific name means something like “crested blue chattering bird.”

But let’s reframe this negativity, shall we? Those with bluejay as their spirit animal can claim “strength of character,” “ability to adapt, and “loyalty to loved ones.”

Plus, I just can’t hold a grudge toward a bird whose feathers are every shade of stunning blue – or can I?
