Fox and Bear find some friends as they wander through the cold months. Wonder and connection are Fox and Bear’s specialty. Part of the Fox and Bear Winter Season collection.
Text on the back of this card:
I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.
Sarah Williams
The winter sky feels particularly expansive to me. I read that cold skies hold less murk and moisture than more humid months. Plus, winter skies get dark earlier and stay starry for longer. So the winter sky is clearer, and we see it for longer hours in the cold season. It is more expansive!
And about the quote above.... It’s from a poem called The Old Astronomer and his Pupil. The astronomer leaves behind a new theory for his understudy to publicize, telling him that “men will scorn it” and the “obloquy of newness may fall bitterly on you.” I am attached to this line (after looking up obloquy — verbal abuse). It’s useful to know that a little chiding is expected when seeding new stuff into the world.
