This was the second illustration that I created in the Fox and Bear series. I quickly learned that I had a steep learning curve ahead of me! For one thing, I didn’t really know what Fox and Bear looked like yet. My first illustration (Fox and Bear looking at the December sky) was just a tiny view of their shapes.
I was also learning Fox and Bear’s personalities. At first they were looking thoughtfully into the snowy valley. But as I kept working, Fox plopped down and started making a snow angel. (In one draft, Bear had also made a snow angel in the elaborate shape of a dragon, but it didn’t render well. I’d still like to make that snow dragon illustration one day....)
