I look forward to November every year. Despite the damp gray skies, I find it a magical time: the gardens are a crisped up mass of brown stems and blackened seed pods, and I love it when I can see the wind from leaves dancing across the air. I’m renewed from the crisp weather, but also I feel an invitation to duck inside and read a couple books under a fuzzy blanket.
This illustration was the final piece I drew in a series of twelve. It’s one of the first times that Fox and Bear got active, and I had fun figuring out where all those arms, legs, and tails should go. I like to think they are dancing with the wind.
