These six birds dart in and out of the grasses, flowers, and ferns in our yard: chickadee, flicker, woodpecker, robin, hummingbird, and starling. Each card includes my curious discoveries on the back.

Black-Capped Chickadee with Sword Fern
I was happy to learn that this little bird is one of the most curious, because she is the logo for my business and, well, I’m pretty curious, too.
Count the number of dee-dee-dee’s at the end of the chickadee’s call: the more you hear, the more stressed out that little bird is feeling.
Chickadees hide tons of seeds for their winter snacking. How do they remember where all those little seeds are? One theory says that chickadees shed neurons every fall to make room for new memories. Brilliant!
The curly branch is a scan of a fern frond that I found at the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River in Washington state.
